Abstract	espanolEste articulo hace una reflexion acerca de la imagen distorsionada de la enfermera(o) que se ha trasmitido a traves de la historia y se sigue difundiendo en los medios de comunicacion y su influencia en nuestra autoestima e identidad profesional. Invita a reconocer la importancia de la construccion de nuestra identidad desde los primeros pasos en la profesion a traves de la experiencia de cuidado durante la practica clinica, con la cual puede dimensionar el objeto de Enfermeria, lo maravilloso que es el acto de cuidar y como en esta interaccion humana se dignifica el ser. Esta experiencia nos motiva, no solo a redefinir la identidad profesional sino a encontrar en cada uno de nosotros las dificultades y fortalezas para su construccion. EnglishThis article reflects about the sometimes historically distorted image of nurses through means of communication and its influence in our professional identity. It invites to recognize the importance of our identity construction from the first passages in the profession and through my clinical practice, with which I could determine the object of nursing: The wonderful thing that is the act of taking care of and how human interaction dignifies the human being. The experience that I will relate is motivating to redefine the professional identity and find in each of us the difficulties and strengths that we own for its construction.
