| Abstract | Estimation is a critical task in the software project management area. Early and reliable software estimations have a positive impact in software project scheduling, cost and quality. The drawbacks of the classical estimation methods used in numerous organizations have motivated the research in new techniques that avoid these problems. Some studies carried out have demonstrated that data mining algorithms provide predictive models with significant advantages with respect to traditional ones. In this work several data mining methods are described and used to create and validate models for software size estimation using attributes obtained in early stages of the life cycle. |
