Abstract	Memorization in the music practice is one of the required skills for pianist, both students and professionals as well. We must keep in mind that no matter what area of development we may be (soloist, accompanist, chamber musician or member of an orchestra, etc.). This article deals with different types of memorization in music (muscular, auditory, visual, rhythmic, analytic and emotional) based on quotations from a variety of investigations and the results of case studies made on pianists working both as piano accompanists as well as soloists in EAFIT University, in relation to memorization as a tool in their profession.
