La autora interpreta como se ha ido configurando la trayectoria psicocultural de esta imagen primera que dieron los novelistas mexicanos. Marta Portal, se refiere a la aportacion plastica, el mural, "espejo mas que instrumento dialectico", dice, o viene a decir, pronunciandose por la narrativa, y por la mayor carga reflexiva del lenguaje literario: testimonio, reflexion, dialectica, evaluacion, arenga, en algunos casos.
