| Abstract | Oral pathologies are lesions that appear in the buccal mucosa due to injuries usually caused by prosthetic appliances in seniors. This work of qualification has as a general objective: to identify the main oral pathologies in patients of the elderly who use total prosthesis that attend the integral dental Clinic of the University of the Americas, as well as to relate the presence of oral diseases with the adaptation of the prosthesis of the evaluated population and finally to know the influence of habits with the appearance of the pathologies found. An observational descriptive cross-sectional investigation was conducted in a sample of fifty people, for which a patient survey and another intraoral inspection section of the operator were performed. Within the results it was obtained that sixty percent of the selected sample has oral pathologies, with greater prevalence in women and it is concluded that the presence of lesions in the oral mucosa is associated with the poor adaptation of the prosthesis, as well as the bad hygiene that is done to it. |
