Abstract	Este artigo apresenta tres experiencias de ensino de Historia das Americas na Universidade Federal Fluminense. Assumindo pesquisa e ensino como indissociaveis, o artigo discute temas de historia colonial, dos seculos XIX e XX das Americas iberica e inglesa, valorizando abordagens comparativas. O artigo enfatiza a relevante contribuicao da Professora Maria Ligia Prado, que desde a decada de 1980 tem orientado dissertacoes e teses que irrigaram o ensino de Historia das Americas no pais. Abstract. This article presents the experience of three American History Professors at the Universidade Federal Fluminense in Brazil. Considering research and lecture as intertwined activities, the article discusses and compares topics in the Colonial history of the 19th and 20th centuries in British and Spanish Americas. The article highlights the seminal work of USP’s senior Professor Maria Ligia Prado with her massive contributions in the teaching of the History of the Americas in Brazil.
