| Abstract | This paper concerns the relation between contemporary jurisprudence and the philosophy of science. The modern naturalistic approach to law seems very important. In the context of the recent rapid development of the empirical sciences concerning human behavior, legal issues may be seen from new perspective. The realistic movement in legal philosophy is one of the most sophisticated, although at first impression it may seem different. The consequence of such an empirical approach is that jurisprudence becomes a purely descriptive discipline. Also many problems regarding the philosophy of science, in particular the controversy regarding the epistemic value of scientific statements, gains a new significance for the philosophy of law. These are discussed in this paper. |
