| Abstract | In recent years, the subject competence, its development and its management came to the agenda for discussion and academic enterprise, associated with different levels of understanding, and the market demanded new skills, abilities and attitudes to the individual, due to technological advancement and globalization economy. Given this scenario and the demand for new skills, it is necessary to map and reflect: what are the skills appropriate to teaching environment of higher education? The research aimed to describe and analyze the skills of teaching undergraduate Accounting in the perception of students and teachers in two private institutions of higher education in Belo Horizonte. This study aimed to investigate the teacher's competencies graduate of Accounting, describe and analyze these competencies and compare the results between the groups investigated, identifying its common and disparate using the model of Fleury and Fleury (2004) adapted for educational field of higher education accounting. The methodology developed in this research was a descriptive, qualitative approach being used two case studies. We developed an empirical study with 16 students, these being the sixth, seventh and eighth periods and 14 teachers of Accounting Course, through semi-structured interviews. In addition to these 14 teachers was deemed interesting to hear the opinion of three teachers, two renowned professors and doctors of the accounting department and a professor and chairman of the Regional Accounting Council of Minas Gerais. It is noteworthy that the total of interviews was limited by the saturation of information (BAUER, AART, 2002). The results showed that the teacher's degree in Accounting shall be provided in addition to technical knowledge and practice in the area of their specialty, also of competence research in order to contribute to new knowledge, it is essential to invest in teacher competence, methodological and social skills for the betterment of their classes in order to encourage the student to engage the resources learned in different situations experienced. For the development of these skills will be necessary for heis and agencies interested in the development of education work in partnership with these professionals. |
