| Abstract | Introduction: Any physical activity is subject to some type of injury, be it leisure or competitive. Volleyball, one of the most practiced sports in the world and with limited physical contact, has a high incidence of injuries. Objective: The objective of this research was to investigate the prevalence of ankle sprains in volleyball practitioners in the city of TubaraoSC. Method: Participated in the study of 80 volleyball players, of which 33 were female and 47 were male, who answered a questionnaire containing closed and open questions. Results: The results showed that 60% (n = 48) of volleyball players already suffered an ankle sprain injury and that 98% (n = 47) was inversion. Conclusion: We can conclude that the prevalence of ankle sprain in volleyball is high, and that one of the protection mechanisms, such as ankle brace, is little used among the practitioners, but the interviewees affirmed that they perform heating, stretching and other physical activities Such as bodybuilding, running and functional training, among the most cited. |
