Abstract	Photography, due to its characteristic configuration in which technique becomes an essential and decisive aspect, has since its origin a character more universal than other means of graphic representation, condition that is going to be in force during its one hundred and seventy years of existence. If the spreading of its invention was very fast, the photographers, since the XIX century, were always paying attention to the novelties and contibutions to the improvement of the images, the final results or the implementation of standardized formats, iconographic and formal patterns or the commercial exploitation formulae that appeared all over the world. Navarre was not different and it was marked by the predominance of foreign influences not only in arrival but also in the implementation and the subsequent development of the photography. * Debido a la amplitud del tema, nos hemos centrado principalmente en la ciudad de Pamplona y en el periodo cronológico que va desde 1840 a 1920.
