| Abstract | This paper looks at specialized translation from the perspectives of the history of translation and Translation Studies academic publishing. Four aspects of specialized translation are discussed, namely its relationship with translation studies, professional translator training, history of translation and finally translation studies journals. We start by looking at the concept of ‘specialized translation’, contrasting it with other types of ‘translation’. Second, we discuss the place of specialized translation in the academic training of professional translators and researchers, which we illustrate with a specific case study. Third, we offer a glimpse of the relationship between specialized translation and the history of translation. Finally, we look at the place of specialized translation articles in Translation Studies academic journals, with a special emphasis on Meta . |
