Abstract	The negative effect of different free fatty acids (palmitic, oleic and linoleic acids) on cho!esterol biotransformation to produce androstadiendione (ADD) as well as the growth of the Mycobactetium sp. NRRL B-3683 strain was studied. The growth measurement was carried out by dry weight technique and the ADD concentration was measured by high performance liquid chromatography twhnirple. These resu1t.s suggest that the free fatty acids action on biotransformation and growth depend on the concentraiion and the unsaturation degree as well as the strain culture condition.
