| Abstract | The supplementary health in Brazil goes through several changes and the health insurance companies are encouraged to adopt measures with the aim of promoting health and preventing diseases, through the Programa de Qualificação da Saúde Suplementar da Agência Nacional de Saúde Suplementar – ANS (Program for Supplementary Health’s Qualification Program – National Supplementary Health Agency ANS). This study tries to identify at eight health insurance companies the adopted measures within the scope of promoting and preventing which achieved the highest score during the 2nd phase of the ANS’s Qualification Program. The health insurance companies which took part in the research were mostly self-management health insurance companies which were considered small-sized companies as well. The presented results have a subjective character and refer to users’ perception, as well as managers and a possible diminution of use of some services, without presenting the quantitative indicators. We consider that the adoption of a model of attentiveness to health will possibly constitute the main strategy of health insurance companies in order to acquire users and conquer user’s loyalty. Moreover, it will potentially reduce the costs of medical assistance, in medium and long-term conditions. |
