| Abstract | The goal of this study was to identify and evaluate the prescription drugs obtained through the Brazilian Popular Pharmacy Program (BPPP). The data were collected in a drugstore in the city of Erechim (RS), using a questionnaire. The results showed 57% of the interviewed people were female and the average age was 56 to 65 years old. The most prevalent income was 1-3 minimum wage (nearly U$$ 250,00 – U$$ 750,00) per month. Anthyhipertensive drugs were the most dispensed and 55% of the prescriptions came from Public Health Centers. According to the results, it can be concluded that the BPPP can be complementary to the public Pharmacy Assistance in Brazil.
