IDENTITY IN HYPOSMETRIC MODELS FOR Tectona grandis WITH DIFFERENT SPACING IN CACERES - MT ABSTRACT The aim of this study were to adjust and validate a traditional model of hypsometric relation to even-aged Tectona grandis plantations under different spatial arrangements, and test the possibility of reducing the equations number between layouts by identity test of models. Planting is an experiment which consists of four spacing arranged in double rows: 3x2x2m, 4x2x2m, 5x2x2m, 6x2x2m in randomized blocks design with three replications. The model used to represent the hypsometric relation was Curtis. The data of diameter at 1.3 m height (DBH) were collected through forest census, and separated into diameter classes. The heights were obtained, followed by the diameter distribution of the stand at each spacing. After fitting equations and applying the identity test, the equations were validated by the chi- square statistic. Analyzing the results, it is concluded that the Curtis model is accurate to the estimate the total height of Tectona grandis and the identity test revealed that it is possible to use a single equation (with the same parameters) for arrangements 4x2x2m, 5x2x2m, 6x2x2 m, decreasing significantly the number of equations in future inventories. In the validation test was found that the equations are recommended to estimate the total height of Tectona grandis. Keywords: Teak, spatial arrangements, height estimation, equations validation.
