| Abstract | We followed the design strategy of opioid core --spacer/conformational adjuvant-- type-specific «label/signature» to produce opioid peptide antagonists specific for the δ or κ receptor type. The first project was successful (1); the second was based on a pentapeptide sequence (Tyr-Lys-Lys-Trp-Trp-NH 2 ) found in cobrotoxin (see Orosz et al., this volume). This project is at the beginning, but promising. Besides producing the antagonists, we wanted to find the simplest address - and message (2) core which still contains full, receptor type-specific information. Since - erroneously- we have regarded the Tyr-Pro sequence as the opioid core, we sought in this direction. We have a synthetic dipeptide, H-Tyr(O t Bu)-D-Pro-OH with 6 receptor agonist characteristics |
