Irrigating solutions and auxiliary chemical solutions are used in chemical-mechanical preparation of root canals with the aim of promoting your cleaning, expansion and modeling. The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the pH values of sodium hypochlorite solutions (NaOCl) and calcium hypochlorite solutions (Ca[OCl]2) under different storage conditions for 4 weeks. The solutions of NaOCl and Ca(OCl)2 were obtained at concentrations of 0.5%, 1%, 2.5% and 5.25%. The pH of freshly manipulated solutions and stored in local temperature, 8oC and 37oC were evaluated with pH digital. Descriptive analysis was used to evaluate the results. The NaOCl and Ca(OCl)2 solutions showed extremely alkaline values of pH immediately after the preparation. More concentrated solutions showed highest pH values. In local temperature, 0.5% NaOCl solutions showed decrease in pH value. Ca(OCl)2 solutions maintained their pH stable when storage in local temperature and in 8oC during 4 weeks. The 0.5% Ca(OCl)2 solution showed decrease when storage in 37oC. 0.5% and 1% NaOCl solutions showed important variations when stored under refrigeration and in 37oC. The analysis of the present study may suggest that Ca(OCl)2 solutions shows alkaline character and seems to demonstrate stability in different storage conditions.
