| Abstract | In order to evaluate the effect of cutting height and three age cut of Cratylia argentea (Desvaux.) O. Kuntze on the biomass and crude protein production a test was carried out on the farm “Mata de Junco”, in the municipality of Pedraza, Barinas state. A completely randomized design was used with a 2 x 3 factorial arrangement. The variables evaluated: dry matter production (g plant -1 ), number of leaves for regrowth (NHR), length of regrowth (LR), number of leaves and regrowth (NHR) of crude protein (PC). We found a significant factor in the cutting height, only in the variable number of regrowth, and the age cutoff was different (P <0,05) in all variables. The interaction AC x CE showed no differences (P <0,05). The production of dry matter, length of regrowth and number of leaves by regrowth increased with the age of the plant. After 90 days the dry matter average gain was 107,25; 48,17 and 10,42 respectively. The content of crude protein reached its highest value after 30 days with an average of 21,50%. One can conclude that after 90 days, the plant showed the highest increased production of biomass and a high protein content which is acceptable for this leguminous plant. |
