| Abstract | This paper was conducted to study, through meta-analysis, the relations between dietary lysine and performance of pigs from 15 to 120 kg live weight. Thirtysix articles published from 2002 to 2013 were compiled in which 2399 pigs were used. Data were grouped by initial body weight ranges (15-30, 30-50, 50-70, 70-120 kg). The meta-analysis was performed by graphical, correlation, and variance-covariance analysis. The daily intake of digestible lysine showed correlations on average 19 and 58% higher with metabolizable energy intake and crude protein and 54 and 85% higher with the protein deposition (PD) and the lipid deposition (LD), with the percentage level of lysine in the diet. The variance-covariance equations using the daily intake of lysine and feed efficiency of pigs which affects 3% on this answer, showed the best fit. Increasing one unit in the lysine/ME ratio led to increases of 4.66 g/day in the average daily gain, 3.52 g/day in PD, and 7.10 g/day in LD for pigs from 15 to 30 kg body weight, on the other hand, the correlation was negative with the LD from 70 to 120 kg. The daily intake of digestible lysine was more appropriate than the lysine percentage to study the responses of pigs from 15 to 120 kg. Prediction equations of protein deposition should consider the feed efficiency of pigs. |
