| Abstract | This study focused on evaluating the problems and requirements with respect to nail clipper usage by elder people. After requirement analysis, we applied ergonomics in redesigning the nail clipper and developing a pedal plate. Further, an experiment was conducted to evaluate the conventional and newly developed nail clippers by 24 elder people. Dependent measures were total number of clipping, completion time, and subjective ratings in usability. The experimental results indicate that the newly developed nail clipper was superior to the conventional one in ease of clipping. However, no significant differences in performance between these two nail clippers. Important implication in nail clipper design for ageing population are discussed. |
