| Abstract | Considering the need in Mexico and the world to develop environmentally friendly ways to help improve the sanitary quality of corn (Zea mays L.) that are affected by climate change and thus impact on human health and animal consumption food contaminated with mycotoxins, this thesis is intended as general objective investigate to improve the sanitary quality of corn (Zea mays L.), used to make tortillas using a sustainable method: UV-C. With the systemic-transdisciplinary research process involved four phases: Field Research, Research investigating the subject, and Research experimental impacts in the real world. Biological material grains of maize (Zea mays L.) used in this research were provided by researchers from the Autonomous University of Chapingo (UACh), National Institute of Agricultural and Forestry Research (INIFAP) and the real world (Mills north of the Gustavo A. Madero. This research is expected that the application of ultraviolet light treatments for specific UVC exposure times and distances could become an alternative to improve the sanitary quality of corn grain, and future research with biological materials. |
