| Abstract | Photographic typologies emerged in the 60s and 70s in the works of artists such as Ed Ruscha, Dan Graham Bernd and Hilla Beher’s and the artist from the “New Topography” movement. They have created a new artistic concept based on standardization and precision inspired by a scientific and institutional photography (which aesthetics and standards we can already find at Edward Muybridge). The use of typology in artistic photo projects suggested the conceptual and the research nature of the project and the lack of subjective interference in the transmission of the image. The article presents the phenomena of typology in the context of “Düsseldorf school” artists like: Andreas Gursky, Thomas Ruff, Candida Höfer and Thomas Struth and contemporary Polish artists such as Peter Uklańki Elizabeth Janicka, Wojciech Wilczyk, Krzysztof Pijarski, Zbigniew Libera, Maurice Gumolicki or Tomasz Saciłowski. |
