| Abstract | In this article (Paragraph No. 5211), the world's commercial airline pilots argue that cockpit image recorders constitute a clear violation of their right to privacy, the authors ask the reader whether bankers, gas station attendants, convenience store clerks, jailers, blackjack dealers, doormen, and others complain about cameras in their workplaces. “Absolutely not!” they say, adding that they find it amazing—given all the other recording devices on an aircraft—that image recorders are not among them. The article emphasizes the value of cockpit image recorders and addresses issues raised in opposition to them. In an effort to give investigators more information to identify the causes of complex aviation accidents, the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board has repeatedly recommended that image recorders be placed in the cockpit, but to no avail. In some cases, cockpit image recorders would exponentially assist the Safety Board in its efforts to rapidly, effectively, and efficiently determine the factors related to an aircraft accident, endorsing the old adage that shapes the title of this work. |
