| Abstract | A study on primary productivity of phytoplankton and it’s relationship with physical and chemical factors of water in Estuary of Asahan River was done in August 2009. The sampling station was determinated by Purposive random sampling method. Samples were collected from 3 sampling station with 3 water depth. The primary productivity was measured by the Winkler method, while the concentration of chlorophyll a was measured by spectrophotometer. The result showed that of primary productivity range from 150,144 to 375,360 mgC/m/day with the highest value at station 3 and the lowest value at station 2. There is no significance difference of value primary productivity between station and deepness. Analysis of correlation between physical and chemical factors, concentration of chlorophyll a, abundance of phytoplankton with value of primary productivity showed that dissolved oxygen, phosphate, concentration of chlorophyll a, abundance of phytoplankton had very strong and positive correlation with primary productivity. |
