| Abstract | This study evaluated the effectiveness of a cognitive-behavioral intervention for children with disruptive disorders and depressed mood. Four hundred thirty four boys and 174 girls, ages 8 to 13, attending public schools, were initially evaluated to determine the diagnosis of a disruptive disorder. Of those diagnosed with disruptive disorders, 278 were assigned to the two experimental groups. The Child Depression Inventory was administered to the children and the Bauermeister School Behavior Inventory was administered to the teachers at three different stages. At post-treatment, significant reductions were found in the treatment group vs. the control group in depressed mood and disruptive behaviors. Children in the treatment group showed further reductions at the follow-up in both areas. |
