| Abstract | Ramp load/unload has become an excellent alternative technology to CSS in today’s disk drive design since the advantages in increasing of areal recording density and improving of shock resistance for greater disk durability and longevity etc. Ramp loading mechanism is also employed for head loading, which transfers the HGAs to the disk from a loading comb. Physical surface damages caused by the slider edge or corner hit the disk surface in the high-speed motion was found on the disk surface in this study. The parameters of dynamic ramp load/unload process were optimized in this study in order to minimize the head disk damages. |
