| Abstract | In Rio Grande do Sul state the municipality with a major problem of flooding is Alegrete. Located in the southwest of the state, the municipality has established its urban area at edge of the Ibirapuita river. This work is based on data for flooding processes that affected the urban area between 1980 and 2007. From these it was possible to identify the occurrence of different processes of flood affecting 30 districts of the urban area. Thus, defines the area susceptible to flooding processes and zoning of the hazard of flooding in the urban area of Alegrete. |
