| Abstract | The approximation of East Asian countries poses opportunities and challenges to South American economies since the beginning of the current century. Although there is a well-founded economic interest in strengthening these bilateral ties, the South American insertion models reflect divergent national interests and regional commitments. As a result, many questions arise around the link between the models of internal development and insertion strategies, and the consequences of the presence of Asian economies in the region. Our research addresses these questions by taking two cases from South America: Argentina and Chile. |
