| Abstract | Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) are the leading cause of death worldwide, each year about 36 million people die from the disease (WHO, March 2013). Some factors that contribute to the prevalence in adulthood are childhood obesity, body image perception, and unhealthy diet. Studies in adolescents have shown that body image perception affects nutritional status, both for the self and for proper weight maintenance (Branco 2006, Muris 2005, Perez 2010). The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between body image perception, dietary habits and nutritional status in adolescent girls in an educational institution in the Capital District. |
