| Abstract | The present work is a study of the demand and the main characteristics of medicines and medical supplies that are handled within Novaclinica pharmacy, in order to a better understanding of the behavior of the products, and the proposal of appropriate policies for the management , and to analyze the possibility of a new warehouse for a proper storage of drugs and supplies. The study begins with the selection of the products that have the major inventory rotation within groups of drugs and medical supplies. Then it is analyze the main components of the demand such as the level, trend and seasonality for each of the selected products, this allows the application of demand models that predict the behavior based on data such as the moving average, the exponential smoothing, winters method, among others, evaluating each method according to the error occurred. It also discusses the optimal order size for the main products in order to reduce the costs incurred therein. |
