| Abstract | The problems of the growing amount of commuters in Göteborg, is the background of an inventory and an analysis of the traffic situation regarding a period of 10 to 15 years from now. The initiatory companies of this study strives to be attractive work places even in the future and have concerns about the crossing to Hisingen from the main land. The purpose of this essay is to compare a former servey taken among the employes of these companies with a feasible development in traffic. With focus on National and Regional plans of infrastructure and future private and public transport, the expectations of the coworkers and how to meet these are discussed. The majority of commuters are single drivers. Studies show that the traffic will not degenerate whithout active interference. The results of the following investigation show that the planned countermeasures are inadequate compared to the growth in traffic. Due to the finantial situation, it is also unlikely that the planned expansion of the infrastructure will take place within its indicated timespan. The placements of investments in “Trollhättepaketet” bring finantial advantages to the Göteborg region, but not to the city of Göteborg. To grant the expectations of the coworkers, three case studies have been dealt with. The results show that the two cases regarding accesibility are very costly and require large physical interferences. The third case study treats the commutors’ choise in means of travel. Although, to realistically compete with private transportation, public transportation has to be a better alternative than it is today. Both public and private transportation have advantages in specific situations. There are benefits for the commutor who is flexible in her/his choice. |
