Abstract	Various countries have made efforts to define equitable methodologies for the geographical allocation of financial resources in the health sector. Nevertheless, international experiences are poorly adequate to the Brazilian case. This paper presents an alternative methodology for the Brazilian case. The distributive results obtained through this method indicate that, in 1999, the Brazilian Ministry of Health distributed resources in an inequitable way and that the main inequities are related to the distribution of financial resources directed to medical care.
