Abstract	1 RESUMO Este trabalho teve como objetivo determinar as caracteristicas morfometricas da bacia hidrografica do rio da Prata, em Castelo, Espirito Santo. As bases de dados utilizadas foram curvas de nivel digitalizadas e a hidrografia mapeada da bacia. Em ambiente de Sistemas de Informacao Geograficas foram calculados varios indices morfometricos, relacionados a geometria, hidrografia e topografia da bacia hidrografica. A area da bacia foi igual a 132,7 Km 2 e o perimetro igual a 72,21 km. A bacia do rio da Prata mostrou-se baixa tendencia a ocorrencia de enchentes, com coeficiente de compacidade igual a 1,8. Database used consisted into digitalized level curves and mapped hydrography of the watershed. Several morphometric indexes, related to geometric, hydrographic and topographic watershed characteristics, were calculated using GIS software. The drainage area was 132.7 Km² and the perimeter was 72.21 km. The Prata river watershed showed low susceptibility to flooding and compactness coefficient of 1.8.
