| Abstract | This paper analyzes the effect of the implementation of the mass transit system “Transmilenio” in Bogotá, on the ways Avenida Caracas and Calle 80. Spatial econometrics techniques are used in order to analyze the dynamics in the creation of commercial stores before and after the implementation of Transmilenio in the two mentioned ways. There is evidence showing that the creation of commercial stores in a particular geographical area is influenced not only by the own area characteristics, but also by the creation of commercial stores on his neighboring areas. Georeferential data of the creation of commercial stores in the Avenida Caracas and the Calle 80 between September 1995 and April 2006 is analyzed and compared with the same kind of data for the ways Carrera 7 and Calle 68, as control groups. |
