| Abstract | Pelationshios betv/een veoetal and edaphic factors and infiltration rates and erosion as measured on 5'oO infiltrometer niots from pinyon and juniper sites in Utah v/ere analyzed by multiple repression analysis. Those factors annearinp most frenuently in the enuations for nredictinn infiltration rates (repardless of time interval) included total porosity in the 0-3 inch layer of soil, percent bare soil surface, soil texture in the 0-3 inch layer of soil, and cro'-'n cover. The ability to predict infiltration rates (as determined by P ) varied with time and geopraphic location, ijot only did Px vary, but independent variables explaining such variance also changed v;ith time and location. Factors influencing sediment discharge were so variable from one geogranhic location to another that no consistent relation »'as found. |
