| Abstract | EnglishWhen studying the way a significant part of the SFL scientific community in Europe has been addressing the oral strategic competence and, more generally, the communicative competence, we come to the conclusion that in most studies done in our continent, there is a lack of in-depth and contextualized analysis of what the ability to communicate in a foreign language is. For example, according to the presentation that is usually made of the strategic competence in most of the master’s theses and doctoral dissertations published in France and Spain, it would seem that the theorization of Canale & Swain’s (1980) model of communicative competence has not changed over the years. However, other models have been proposed by Anglo-Saxon and Spanish researchers, which are often ignored in our field. In order to fill this gap, we present a critical analysis of the different models of communicative competence that have emerged over the last forty years. This analysis will be done within a pedagogical perspective of the oral strategic competence, which is one of the components of the communication competence. francaisEn etudiant la facon dont une partie significative de la communaute scientifique en ELE en Europe a aborde la competence strategique orale et, plus generalement, la competence communicative, nous arrivons a la conclusion que dans la plupart des etudes faites sur notre continent, il y a un manque d’analyse approfondie et contextualisee de ce qu’est la capacite de communiquer dans une langue etrangere. Par exemple, selon la presentation qui est faite d’habitude de la competence strategique dans la plupart des memoires de master et de doctorat publies en France et en Espagne, il semblerait que la theorisation du modele de competence communicative de Canale & Swain (1980) n’ait jamais pas change au fils des ans. Cependant, d’autres modeles ont ete proposes par des chercheurs anglo-saxons et espagnols, qui sont souvent ignores dans notre discipline. Afin de combler cette lacune, nous presentons une analyse critique des differents modeles de competence communicative apparus au cours des quarante dernieres annees. Cette analyse se fera dans une perspective pedagogique de la competence strategique orale, qui est l’une des composantes de la competence de communication. |
