| Abstract | A communicative language teaching approach tends to focus more on interactive oral communication tasks. In the present paper a teaching approach is proposed in which reading comprehension is considered essential as a basis for further exercises such as aural and writing exercises. Having a language instruction at a university level in mind we are obliged to elaborate on the written language. Therefore, the systematic practice of reading comprehension of authentic texts as a basis to further elaborate on vocabulary and syntactic structures with the aim to get the students to read literature related to their field of study and the ability to write...
