The development and demand for industrial activities of the footwear industry are concerned entrepreneurs to change the nature and extent of environmental impacts from the production of shoes and footwear for artifacts. One of the main problems associated with these activities is that they may not have an immediate effect and some may even have an overall effect on the environment. Many industries have responded to these questions investigating ways to minimize its effects on the environment exploring strategies to prevent pollution and environmental management systems. The Life Cycle Assessment is being used in this work as a methodology to minimize environmental impacts in the system of production of shoes for women. The production process of a women's shoe was evaluated in two scenarios for four of the seven subsystems described. The interventions in subsystems 1, 2 e 4 was plainly satisfactory. Interventions in the subsystem 6 were less efficient. Key-words: Life Cycle Assessment; female footwear; footwear industry.
