| Abstract | Firstly, this article analysis the process of setting up of the industry cement in Brazil with emphasis on failed attempts, the role of government, and the consolidation of business in the country. Secondly, territorial and economic aspects are highlighted in order to show the linkage of the economic activity to natural resources, geographical distance as an important aspect of competition and the battle by the concentration and centralization of capitals between the groups and companies in different scales - from the national to world.
