| Description | Journal: Plasma Physics Evidence is presented that the degree of ionisation in the early afterglow of a 2 m Z-pinch in hydrogen is at least 1.7 times greater than that calculated from a measured value of the electron density and the hydrogen filling pressure of 40 m torr. This evidence is based on the observation of the intensity of $H_{beta }$ emission, when an auxiliary Z discharge is passed through the afterglow plasma. |
