| Description | Journal: Europhysics Letters We theoretically investigate a two-component reaction-diffusion system that exhibits transient spatio-temporal chaos before reaching a periodic attractor. The transient times grow exponentially with the size of the system. The chaotic behaviour is characterized by the calculation of local Lyapunov exponents and the propagation velocity of a localized perturbation. Both the maximum positive Lyapunov exponent and the propagation velocity appear to be independent of the system size. |
