| Description | Journal: Physics World There is certainly much that Dave Wark could crow about. The 49-year-old professor of physics at Imperial College London has worked on some of the most important neutrino experiments in the past 20 years, including those at the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO) in Canada, which in 2001 confirmed the phenomenon of neutrino oscillation and so revealed the incompleteness of the Standard Model of particle physics. Wark is also much sought after by journalists and broadcasters looking for an expert who can communicate the complexities of the field in clear terms. Indeed, he admits that he has a certain confidence in his own abilities. "Particle physics is made up of people who are arrogant as a professional qualification," he says. |
