| Description | Journal: Pure and Applied Optics: Journal of the European Optical Society Part A A holographic method has been used to investigate the surface contouring and measure the radius of curvature of a spherical surface. The thick mirror approach has been used to explain the formation of interference fringes. A metal ball of radius of curvature 7.50 mm has been tested. The method has two advantages: (i) a single monochromatic beam is used, (ii) a single displacement along the optical axis is sufficient for measurement. The only limitation is the need for high collimation of the illuminating beam. |
