We show that three two-level atoms acting collectively and damped by a resonant broadband squeezed vacuum can produce a large refractive index accompanied by vanishing absorption. The squeezed vacuum replaces the usually applied coherent driving field needed to generate atomic coherences which are essential to producing a transparent, high-index material. |
