A theoretical investigation of electron sub-bands of quasi-periodic semiconductor superlattices

| Description | Journal: Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics The envelope function approximation is generalised for calculating the electron sub-bands of quasi-periodic semiconductor superlattices (QSS) within the rational approximation, for $K_{perpendicular to }$ (the wavevector perpendicular to the axis of the QSS) not equal to zero. For InAs/GaSb QSS, the evolutions of the energies and the band widths of the electron sub-bands with $K_{perpendicular to }$ are given up to the generation number m=9 and the electron wavefunctions are calculated for $K_{perpendicular to }$=0. It is pointed out that some of the results of the paper can be used to calculate the inter-sub-band plasmon dispersion relations for type-I QSS. |
