| Description | Journal: Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter The spectral shape of the 2p x-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) in 3d metallic magnets is shown to change systematically as a function of spin polarization. Using an independent-particle model we can obtain the line shape by adding up the individual contributions from each of the ground-state moments. It is found that the charge distribution and the magnetism have completely different influences on the spectral shape. |
