| Description | Journal: Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion It is shown that the parametric coupling of lower-hybrid waves with purely damped convective cells leads to a purely growing instability. Under these parametric instability conditions we found that the magnitude of the diffusion coefficient obtained is essentially greater than the corresponding one for the case of a stable plasma when the external pump wave is absent. We also investigated the inhomogeneous magnetized plasma with a density gradient. We assume that such a plasma is subjected to the upper-hybrid pump wave which decays into the daughter upper-hybrid and electron drift waves. It is shown, in the region above the instability threshold, that the turbulent diffusion coefficient grows with an increasing density gradient and the intensity of the pump wave and is independent of the magnetic field. |
