| Description | Journal: Journal of Physics: Conference Series The magnetic structure of a geometrically frustrated system $Co_{2}Cl(OH)_{3}$ is determined by comparing the observed proton NMR spectrum with many magnetic models. The best fit model is obtained as that the magnetic moments of $Co^{2+}$ ions in the triangular plane are parallel to the principal axis of local crystal field and those of $Co^{2+}$ ions in the kagome lattice plane are randomly disordered in the a-b plane. Furthermore, the $Co^{2+}$ ions in the triangular plane have a smaller magnitude of magnetic moment than those in the kagome plane. Our result suggests that the compound $Co_{2}Cl(OH)_{3}$ is different from the "spin ice" in magnetic structure, although the crystal structure is similar to rare earth pyrochlores. |
