| Description | Journal: Journal of Physics B: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics The distorted-wave approximation is applied for the first time to study the electronic excitation of a non-linear polyatomic target by electron impact. Specifically, differential and integral cross sections for the X^{1}$A_{1}$ to$ $^{3}$A_{1}(3a_{1}$ to $3sa_{1}$) transition $H_{2}$O are reported in the energy range 12-30 eV. The comparison with the available experimental and theoretical results is encouraging. |
