| Description | Journal: Journal of Physics B: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics Differential cross sections for the excitation of the n=2 states of atomic hydrogen are computed for electrons of energy between 10.2 and 12.0 eV. These cross sections change rapidly as the incident energy moves through resonances. Their behaviour is discussed in terms of the underlying transition amplitudes. Some results are shown as a function of energy for fixed scattering angle. This variation may be helpful in identifying specific resonances. |
